For One Night

So I was watchin a movie on LifeTime that I've been waitin to see for almost a year called 'For One Night'. It's basically about a town that still has segregated proms and a female student decides to try and change things. It's based on a true story that took place in 2002 in Butler, GA. I can't believe things like this still go on, especially since schools have been integrated for some 40 or more years. Gerica McCrary got the town to combine the "black" and the "white" proms that year but the next it went right back to the way it was, the year after that the school stepped in and now all the proms are integrated. This makes absolutely no since to me because I can't stand any form of segregation, racism, etc. and for this to be happening like 4 hours from where I live is unbelievable and it's not just that one school. It's just proof that some things never change no matter how hard you try but one person can make a difference, even if it is just for one night. I just had to get that off my chest. " Even though racism and segregation still exist in many different ways and in various communities, you have the ability to put an end to these types of behaviors. Your voice can change the negativities going on around you as long as you stand up for what you believe in". Gerica McCrary. Until next time, Me.
